Hossa National Park’s many wilderness cabins, lean-to-shelters and campfire sites also serve those who are travelling on the park’s waterways.

In Yli-Vuokki, in the eastern part of Suomussalmi, there is an approximately 20 km canoeing route, leading through the waterways of the Yli-Vuokki recreational fishing area. The launching point is located at the southern end of Lake Alanteenjärvi down from the Kivijärvi rapids.
