In eastern Suomussalmi, the Yli-Vuokki area offers an approximately 20 km canoeing route through the beautiful Yli-Vuokki recreational fishing area. The launch point is at the southern tip of Lake Alanteenjärvi, just below the Kivijärvi rapids—an ideal start for a memorable journey on the water!

There are two kayak/canoe docks in Jätkänpuisto and Kaunisniemi. From Jätkänpuisto dock you can get to Kiantajärvi and from Kaunisniemi to Hietajärvi. The docks are easily accessable and in free use!
