The Trohkimaini Memorial

The Memorial stands for A Viena Carelian poet and singer Trohkimaini Soava. It is located in the center of Suomussalmi, nearby the market place. The Memorial symbolizes an egg of a bluebill of which the world was born, according to Finnish National Epic Kalevala. In the egg there is a build in torso made of bronze that symbolizes a golden maiden that Trohkimaini Soava sung about.

The Memorial Statue was revealed in August 1999 as a result of co-operation between Suomussalmi muncipality and Akonlahti-association.
