Ölökyn Ähkäsy – Julma Ölkky Trail

Julma-Ölkky is Finland`s largest canyon lake, with a 10 km long Ölökyn Ähkäsy trail running along its cliff edge. The wonderful route goes through the forest and the Alava swamp section. At the northern end of Julma-Ölkky is Ölökynperä lean-on-shelter. The route starts from the yard of the Julma-Ölkky kiosk (on the lake side) ans is marked with orange paint markers. The first part of the route is challenging in terms of terrain, the path is steep and rocky in some places. In the middle stages, the route is smoother and the return trip to the other side of the lake is easier.
