Karuvilla wilderness cabin
The wilderness cabin Karuvilla is a 21 m² log cabin located by the lake, 27 km northwest of Suomussalmi, on the shore of Lake Iso-Pehmeä.
The cabin is situated approximately 35 m from the shoreline. The shore has been dredged and features relatively deep water with a hard bottom. There is a small private pier, a rowing boat, and a lean-to shelter with a campfire site by the shore.
The cabin has a living room/kitchen with a sofa bed and a bedroom with another sofa bed. In front of the cabin, there is a terrace covered with a light roof.
In the yard, there is a separate sauna building with a steam room, a small dressing area, and a sauna lounge. In the sauna lounge, there is a bunk bed with an upper bunk and a box spring bed underneath. Heating is provided by a wood-burning stove. Water for the sauna must be carried from the lake, approximately 90 m away.
Drinking water is available from a spring located 600 m away (the water was tested and approved as potable in 06/2018).
Pets are welcome: there is a dog enclosure (fence height approx. 1.20 m) and two small dog houses. Pets are also allowed indoors; please make sure to protect beds and sofas from pets.
Rental period: 1 May – 31 October.
