The Church of Ämmänsaari

Ämmänsaari church was consecrated in 1967 and locates in the center of Suomussalmi. It was designed by Suunnittelu Oy Niemelä. The altarpiece was painted by Irja Juntunen, an artist born in Suomussalmi, in 1979. The church’s 14-voice organ was made in 1968 by Tuomi and co. the organ builders. The church can seat 300 people.
