Arola Farm and Wilderness Holidays

Arola is a former dairy farm located on the edge of the Martinselkko nature reserve in Suomussalmi, near the Russian border. Since 1995, the farm has developed into a year-round agritourism destination offering immersive nature activities and authentic rural experiences.

Arola’s historic and renovated cottage is suitable for events and dining for groups of 25–30 people. One of the most popular activities is bear safaris (evening and night tours), held from spring through midsummer. Other offerings include berry picking, winter skiing trips along the eastern border hiking trails, and fishing in nearby waters.

Guests can relax in the farm’s smoke sauna and enjoy a traditional dinner in the cottage. Additionally, Arola’s cabin provides a comfortable lodging option for visitors.
